About the Artist:

A native Oregonian, I was born and raised in Portland and in 1977 our family moved to Salem, where we still reside. In 2003 I retired from the State of Oregon where I had been a graphic designer/illustrator for 28 years. My four-year military career began with Basic Training at Ft. Ord, February 1966. Following Basic I was an illustrator in training aids at Ft Rucker, Alabama. My next assignment was at the NATO Weapons School in Oberammergau, Germany. December 1967 I received orders to report to the 6th PSYOPS Bn in Vietnam. Landing during Tet 1968 my orders were changed, and I was assigned to the 519th MI Bn (Binh Loi, RVN) and spent a second tour at the Combined Document Exploitation Center in RVN (20 months in-country). I ended my service an E-6 (SSG) intelligence analyst.
