Hi everyone so happy to find a place to show my art. I started painting about 2 years ago as therapy for PTSD and it has worked wonders along with my kayaking. I watch tutorials on you tube videos and see an improvement every time paint. I am now a full time caregiver for my Veteran husband with dementia and find painting as a way to pass the time and relax.

My favorite mediums are photography, oils and pastels. I have had both my oils and photos shown at local venues. Love getting lost in an oil painting or capturing a gorgeous sunset with my camera while out walking.

I started painting (Plein Air) Parris Island, SC in 1966 while serving in the Marine Corp Band. I studied PleinAir oil painting for over twenty years at the Ridgewood Art Institute, Ridgewood, NJ with master painter John P Osborne. John who was influenced by the American Impressionist painter,Frank Vincent DuMond and his 1880s "Prismatic Palette" I taught oil painting for over 25 years in community schools, universities and privately in my New Jersey studio. I have given oil painting demonstrations throughout the United States and participated in many galleries. I have served on the Board of Directors at The Ridgewood Art Institute, NJ, The American Artist Professional League, NY and The HUB on Canal, New Smyrna Beach, FL....where I have been a studio artist since 2013.

Through photography, I focus on the beauty around us.

. "I was born and raised in San Jose, California, the son of migrant farm workers who settled in the Santa Clara Valley, an agricultural region that later became known as Silicon Valley. During my teenage years, I spent school breaks sorting and picking fruit at local orchards. At 18, I joined the U.S. Navy Seabees, serving honorably for 4 years before being discharged with a service-related disability. Following my discharge, I enrolled in the O.I.C. (Opportunities Industrialization Center) program, where I received formal training as an electro-mechanical design draftsman. Subsequently, I embarked on a career spanning 45 years, offering manufacturing, engineering, and graphic design services to various high-tech companies. Throughout my professional journey, I worked during the day and attended evening classes for a decade. Upon retirement, I transitioned into a full-time artist, embracing my passion for creativity and artistic expression."

I am a Navy veteran who discovered the healing power of creating art. I served from 1987 to 2005 as an F/A/18 pilot. I was deployed twice, once during Operation Desert Storm and the second time to the Med. on the USS Saratoga. I left active service in 1996 but served in the Naval Reserves until 2005.

The love of art has been a desire of mine since childhood. I enjoy painting various subjects challenging myself with different techniques/styles. Painting history past, present and future. Recreating a scene of historical significance is a very important to correcting some of the mishaps of the past. Bring to life the exploits of the Buffalo Soldiers, black cowboys/cowgirls, black aviators and many others lesser-known aspects of American history is a great joy. The use of watercolor as a medium is a tool, I chose to bring these subjects to life. The vase array of techniques and styles help me create a variety of moods and expressing in painting subjects.

Michael Nelson is a founding partner of Nelson and Sixta. It was formed in 1979 as a graphic design, photography, video production, and fine art partnership. The firm provided creative services for a wide-ranging client base. They have produced more than 350 presentations from high-definition video to 15-projector multi-image wide-screen productions. They have created the visual and stage presentations for more than 80 events including: Calibre Awards, Hospitality Design Awards, LULU Awards and Corenet Global Executive of the Year Dinners. They have produced and designed visual presentations for several theatrical shows including the musical Mail, at the Pasadena Playhouse, the Kennedy Center and the Music Box Theatre (Broadway). But they became most known for their work on behalf of the commercial real estate industry; working on some of the most important developments on the West Coast including Wilshire Grand Center, Queensway Bay, Queen Mary Island, Landmark Square, Figueroa at Wilshire, 444 Flower and The Broad Museum. For The Broad, they interviewed a variety of artists collected by Eli Broad... Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha, John Baldessari, Kara Walker, Mark Bradford and Cindy Sherman to name-drop a few. Together they have produced three photography books, one on their fine art, one on their architectural images and one on the construction of the Broad Museum. Through his own publishing company, nXtwo Press, Michael Nelson has produced nine fine art photography books. Michael Nelson holds a B.A. in Studio Art and an M.A. in Painting/Photography from Western Illinois University, where he was a Graduate Teaching Assistant. He has post-graduate work at UCLA and Art Center for Design. Michael has taken graduate independent study classes with Garry Winogrand, Eileen Cowin and Kendra North. He is a Vietnam Veteran stationed at Dong Ha and Marble Mountain in 1971.

Neil C. Jones is an artist and designer living in Maryland. His work has been exhibited nationally, including Atlanta, Baltimore, New York City and Washington, DC, and internationally in Heidelberg, Germany, and Lacoste, France. An award-winning photographer, writer, newspaper editor and U.S. Army veteran who served seven years as a public affairs specialist around the world, his work has been seen in publications including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Baltimore City Paper, Military Times, Press Box, Penn Lines, Soldiers Magazine and Stars and Stripes. He earned an MFA in Photographic and Electronic Media from the Maryland Institute College of Art, an MA in Digital Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and a BA in English Literature and Film Studies from the University of Delaware.

I am a Navy Veteran, of Italian and Japanese descent. I am competent in a number of different mediums all of which I was introduced to through other artisans in my family. My work has been featured in several galleries and exhibitions, worldwide. My art style is heavily influenced by my Life experiences. From having growing up in a multi cultural family, to having served in the Navy, to my vast travels, being an autodidact, and even having to live with multiple disabilities. From the rigors of Basic training to the vibrant landscapes of Tampa, Florida, where I retired in 1998, and later, as a Telecommunications Engineer in the Middle East, supporting the US Military across Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Jordan, UAE, and Bahrain for seventeen years – my story unfolds against a backdrop of diverse experiences.
